The circulator pump for my boiler is running scorching hot, is this normal?

No. The motor is probably bad. If you turn off the water, and take the 4 bolts out of the housing, the motor will slip out. Take it to a plumbing supply place, and they can match up a new one. This way is a lot easier, and cheaper than buying a new pump.
