I think it is fair. Especially if you think she would have let you go had you told her the truth, it shows she is understanding and pretty reasonable. If she is letting you live there, and she seems to be reasonable regarding letting you do your thing as long as you are honest, then I think its fair that she punish you when you are not honest.
