Is Bronchitis contagious at its early stages?

Hey guys my girlfriend has bronchitis and I really want to know... is it contagious at the early stages? I do love her dearly but if its extreamly contagious then... you know... we can be near each other... need a answer ASAP! thanks. any farther detail plz message me.
